The city of Liverpool is bustling with activities and events throughout the year. There is so much to do in this city that you’ll never be bored with it. 1. Mythos: A Trilogy by Stephen Fry – Heroes

One of the world’s greatest storytellers, Stephen Fry, embarks on his first UK tour in nearly 40 years, and he’s coming to Liverpool. The Mythos trilogy of plays will see Stephen Fry take to the stage in the company of the Greek gods, heroes and men, whose gripping tales still echo today. Laugh-out loud funny, mind-blowing and often personal, Mythos is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the icon himself. Witness the master storyteller in action as he divides his gripping tales of love and war, debauchery and revenge into three full-length shows as Heroes recounts the escapades of Perseus, Heracles and Theseus.

2. Walker Cup

ans of Golf are in for a treat at the 47th biennial match between the amateurs of Great Britain and Ireland, and the USA. The Royal Liverpool Club, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of its foundation this year, will host the event in September 2019. Hoylake is no stranger to top class amateur events, having hosted The Amateur Championship on 18 occasions, and the Curtis Cup in 1992. Several great players have taken part in the Walker Cup over the years, including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for the USA, and Rory Mcllroy, Luke Donald, and Graeme McDowell for Great Britain and Ireland.

3. Albert Dock Food Festival

Calling all foodies to gather around Albert Dock this summer! The Royal Albert Dock Liverpool plays host to some of the finest food and drink traders, at the Albert Dock Food Festival 2019 – FEAST. This festival which will be taking over the dock this September, will provide a feast of flavours to taste and slurp your way through. It will also shine a spotlight on some of the country’s finest restaurants, bars and traders. Head over here with your entire family and peruse the restaurant, bar and lifestyle stalls; sharpen your culinary skills with our exciting chef demos and masterclasses; there’s also kids street theatre and story time sessions; and a whole lot more.

4. Luther

The World’s premier show in celebration of ‘The Velvet Voice’ comes to Liverpool. Experience all the hits from Luther Vandross’ amazing career, culminating over 40 million album sales and eight Grammy awards including many of the greatest dance anthems and love songs ever written. The event is fronted by international Luther Vandross tribute Harry Cambridge and his 10 piece band. Book your tickets and sing along to famous numbers such as “Never Too Much”, “Here and Now”, “Give Me the Reason”, “Love The One You’re With”, “Superstar” and many, many more.

5. The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child: With Live Orchestra

If you’re visiting Liverpool with kids, this is a must-visit event. Terry Davies conducts the Orchestra performing René Aubry's inspired scores for this wonderful animated double-bill. Based on the much-loved children’s books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, this event is sure to be a massive hit. Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep dark wood, where he is confronted by three hungry animals who each thinks that the mouse looks good! And the magic doesn’t stop there, as The Gruffalo’s Child ignores her father’s warnings one wild and windy night, going in search of the Big Bad Mouse. Be here to witness the joy and excitement of watching the movie with Live orchestra.

6. Do Something Saturdays

For those of you who are traveling with kids aged between 6 and 10, this is a fun event to be a part of. Drop in at FACT on any Saturday between 11 am and 3 pm to indulge in some free fun. Send a message to the future you and thank yourself later, as you learn and create as a team with family and friends. Free refreshments are provided at the venue.

7. St. George’s Hall Beer Festival

Head over to one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings for St. George’s Hall Beer Festival this September. If you’ve never stepped inside the Great Hall before, then you’re in for a treat. Take this chance to sit back with a drink and enjoy the view. Expect to be treated to 200 different real ales and ciders, alongside a gin garden with a selection of boutique gins, spirits, wine and prosecco. There will also be entertainment throughout the sessions (except Friday afternoon – music free session). You can also find hot and cold food to soak up the alcohol, provided by Peninsular Pies, Crackpot Catering and Liverpool Cheese Company. This is one event you surely don’t want to miss!
